Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find clear answers to frequently asked questions about Practical, our services, and our working method. For in-depth questions about accounting, payroll administration, tax advice, and the 30% ruling, we refer you to the relevant service page.
What does Practical do for businesses?
Practical provides growing Dutch and international companies with the financial capabilities of a complete specialist team. Accounting, payroll administration, tax advice, financial control, and business advice work together from a single financial overview. You can outsource the entire financial function to Practical or only utilize the expertise that is missing within your organization.
For which organizations is Practical suitable?
Practical is particularly suited for growing companies, organizations with personnel, companies with multiple entities, and international companies with activities in the Netherlands. An organization with its own finance or HR team can also engage Practical for extra capacity, continuity, or specialist knowledge. During the initial introduction, we determine which form best suits your situation.
Can I purchase services separately?
Yes. Accounting, payroll administration, tax advice, financial control, and other specialisms can be purchased separately. When multiple services are relevant, we organize the transfer under unified management. This allows you to benefit from cohesion without purchasing services that your organization has already effectively established.
Can Practical fulfill our entire financial function?
Yes. Practical can provide daily administration, payroll, tax processes, periodic reporting, and financial guidance in an integrated manner. The precise scope is determined in advance, including responsibilities, delivery times, and decision-making. You remain in control, while a broad specialist team ensures execution, monitoring, and continuity.
Can Practical strengthen our existing finance or HR team?
Yes. Practical can work alongside your employees or current advisors and add specific missing capacity or professional knowledge. This could include a temporary financial controller, specialist payroll knowledge, tax guidance, or the improvement of systems and reports. We make clear agreements on which activities remain internal and what Practical is responsible for.
Do we work with a single point of contact?
Yes. You will be assigned a fixed point of contact who is familiar with your organization and agreements. Behind that relationship stands a team of specialists in accounting, payroll, taxation, control, and advice. Your contact person coordinates the collaboration, but substantive questions are handled by the professional with the appropriate expertise.
What does working from a single financial overview mean?
Accounting, payroll data, tax positions, and management information are not assessed in isolation. Relevant changes and signals are coordinated between the involved specialists. As a result, tax returns, wage costs, and reports align better, and management has access to information built from the same financial foundation.
Which financial software does Practical use?
Practical works with Nmbrs Accounting (formerly Yuki), Exact Online, and Nmbrs Payroll, among others. Where appropriate, we utilize Nmbrs Invoicing, dashboards, standard integrations, and API solutions. The software is not an end in itself: the setup must reduce manual work, connect data flows, and provide reliable information for monitoring and decision-making.
Will we have continuously up-to-date financial information?
You and your advisors work in the same digital environment with information that is updated according to agreed-upon delivery, processing, and control cycles. How current the figures are depends in part on complete and timely delivery, well-functioning integrations, and professional verification. Therefore, not every figure is constantly final.
What does Practical expect from the client?
Accurate financial information is a joint responsibility. Practical sets up processes, processes data, performs checks, and identifies points of attention. We expect complete and timely information, correct mutations, and availability for decisions from you. Clear working agreements prevent delays and increase the quality of administration, payroll, and advice.
How does Practical monitor the quality of its services?
Practical combines automation with human oversight, professional development, and periodic evaluation. Over a full year, the average automation rate of administrations in Nmbrs Accounting (formerly Yuki) is above 90%. Additionally, Practical annually measures satisfaction among participating clients using Nmbrs Accounting and Exact; the average rating is above 9 and is used for further improvement.
Can Practical work alongside our current bookkeeper or accountant?
Yes. Practical can perform additional work without taking over the existing relationship. Together, we determine where the need lies, for example, in payroll, tax advice, financial control, automation, or temporary capacity. With your permission, we make agreements regarding information exchange, deadlines, and responsibilities.
Does Practical support international companies and employees?
Yes. Practical supports international organizations with Dutch activities with Dutch accounting, payroll, wage taxes, tax obligations, and reporting. We can also provide guidance regarding international employees and the 30% ruling. Foreign tax returns or advice on foreign law are defined per situation and, where necessary, coordinated with a specialized advisor.
Does Practical also provide legal support?
Practical identifies when legal expertise is required and can coordinate collaboration with a specialized legal partner. The legal partner bears the substantive responsibility. This allows the financial and tax context to be taken into account without presenting Practical as a law or notary firm.
How does a collaboration with Practical begin?
We start with an introduction in which we discuss your organization, entities, employees, systems, deadlines, and information needs. Afterward, we establish the recommended scope, division of roles, setup, and consultation moments. This way, you know in advance what Practical does, what remains within your organization, and what information is needed for a careful start.
